Jupiter enters Pisces

On May 13th, just two days after the grounded and fertile Taurus new moon, the collective experiences one of the most anticipated and optimistic transit of the year. After a steady six-month journey through the fixed air sign of Aquarius, Jupiter – the God of Gods - is ready to take flight and dive deep into the ethereal ocean of Pisces.

His stay in Pisces is brief, lasting only from May 13th – July 28th where he then will retrograde back into Aquarius and remain there until December. During this time, we are given a preview to all the magic that will be bestowed upon us, as the Titan God, Zeus (Jupiter) rejoices in one of his home signs and uplifts the energy surrounding the collective. He makes his official return to Pisces and remains there most of 2022. Let’s break this down a little more to get a deeper understanding of what this transit is unlocking within the universal energy field and within all of us.

In mythology, Jupiter is connected to the Greek God Zeus, the sky and thunder God who is king over all other Gods in Mount Olympus. He is the son of Cronus (Saturn) and Rhea and the brother of Poseidon (Neptune), Hades (Pluto), Hestia (Vesta), Hera (Juno - his wife), Demeter (Ceres), and Chiron. Jupiter’s story is widely known for overthrowing his tyrant father Cronus, who ate all of Jupiter’s siblings in fear that they would try and take his power like he had done to his father, Uranus. In his victory over Cronus, Jupiter set his siblings free and was made King of the Gods and was given incredible power over both Mount Olympus and Earth. In my experience, the connection to mythology helps us understand and make deeper connections to the sky and the phrase, “as above, so below.” It’s important to remember that the planets are connected to universal archetypes that we all embody to some degree. The energy that is playing out in the heavens is also playing out here on earth.

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system; the friendly giant that brings gifts, abundance, and a connection to something bigger than ourselves. In astrology he rules over philosophy, religion, higher learning, optimism, luck and fortune, abundance, and all things expansive. He is responsible for expanding our mind to higher realms and pushes us to ask the deeper questions. Questions like, what is the meaning of life? What is true and real? What are my ethical values and how do I use that to grow into my highest expression of self? He plays a pivotal part in the collective field and within our own birth charts. His transition into Pisces will awaken the compassionate nature within that will untimely help us find our way back to union and connectedness, rather than division and separateness.

Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and holds the power of the universe between its symbol, the two fish swimming in opposite directions. Pisces is inherently unifying, boundless, mystical, ethereal, poetic, intuitive, spiritual, misunderstood, moody, psychic, and empathetic. Pisces is akin to the primordial womb, where all life begins. The boundless possibility of creation lies within this sign. Any time a planet moves into this sign the energy is embodied fully and we feel it as a collective.

Now let’s put it all together; Jupiter moving into Pisces will activate all that Pisces embodies. We will feel a deeper connection and pull to our spiritual practice, our emotional bodies, our ethical values, and to the bigger picture. We will be given a chance to heal some of the trauma that we all experienced during 2020, in a way that brings us all closer together, remembering that we are all part of the same whole.

Amid an ongoing square in fixed signs between Saturn and Uranus, this transition from fixed to mutable and air to water is a welcome reprieve for the collective. Jupiter in Pisces will help unlock unlimited potential to create new dreams and realities. We are given a chance to turn inward and reflect on how much we’ve grown over the past year and all the ways in which we want to continue to grow in the future. This is an incredible uplifting and emotionally energetic time, a time when anything is possible, and we turn our pain into power.

Over the next three months, take time to notice this energy shift. Ask yourself the meaningful questions and allow Jupiter to expand your mind to what is truly possible for yourself and for your life. Dive deeper into a spiritual practice, spend time daydreaming about your most ideal life, expand your horizons and trust that this cycle will bring healing energy your way.
